Jamie and Taylor were married at The George in downtown Spartanburg last Saturday. It was such a joy to photograph their wedding day, and I am so honored they chose me!! I hadn’t gotten to meet this couple in person before the wedding, as we never could align our schedules for an engagement session or bridal session. But after speaking with Taylor on the phone, I knew they were the kind of couple I wanted to work with! If I remember right, Taylor said she just “felt something” when she received my email with information and thought we would be a good fit. I think she would agree, that the day went very well and I felt like an included friend throughout their beautiful day!
Taylor shared with me in our conversations that she and Jamie had met at church, where they were both musicians. Taylor was a singer/worship leader and Jamie was a drummer. They had gotten engaged in February, so didn’t have a super long engagement, but had enough time to plan a day full of special moments and family and friends. And being a huge football fan, Jamie had planned the wedding date so that it wouldn’t conflict with any major games either!! 🙂
Some of my favorite moments from their wedding day were:
*Arriving to the hotel room where Taylor’s sister was doing her makeup and her mom, step-dad, and nephew were just chilling and getting ready in the room with her. There was an excitement in the room, but also a calm atmosphere where it was obvious everyone was there to help make Taylor feel relaxed and help in any way they could! Family is the best!!
*Jamie and Taylor’s first look in the courtyard of the downtown Spartanburg, Marriott. I’m so glad they chose to do a first look, so we could do all of their couple portraits before the ceremony, along with many of the family photos beforehand too.
*The beautiful ceremony in the courtyard between The George building and the parking garage in downtown Spartanburg. I didn’t even know that courtyard existed before this day! It was a perfect intimate setting for Jamie and Taylor to share with their family and friends on this important day!
*I loved that they decided to actually sign their marriage license DURING the ceremony. Such a special and unique touch that I had never seen before in all of my time photographing weddings!
*The first dances at the reception were very special too – not only did Taylor and Jamie share in a special first dance as husband and wife, but after they had danced for a while, then each important man in Taylor’s life took turns cutting in to dance with her – her Grandfathers, her Dad, and her Step-Dad. So sweet and special! I don’t know if Taylor knew about this before the reception, or if it was a surprise, but I could tell the moments were so special and appreciated by her! Jamie also shared in special dances with each of his daughters. The love between both families was so evident to me!
Enjoy looking through all of these special moments and more below!
It really was such a joy to serve Taylor and Jamie and their families on their wedding day. I never take the trust that couples put in me lightly, and always make it my goal to serve them well on their important day! I hope they felt taken care of and enjoyed their wedding experience! Thank you, Taylor and Jamie, for giving me the honor of being your wedding photographer. I wish you both many years of happiness together!!!
