Katelyn and Kyle were married on a beautiful summer August day at The Morning Star Lutheran Chapel in Matthews, NC. I had not met Katelyn and Kyle officially until the day of the wedding, as I had been corresponding with Beth, Katelyn’s mother. As Beth had told me though, they were both laid back and easy going people and would just be happy getting married! I really enjoyed getting to know them and all of their friends and family throughout the day. Everyone was so kind and was excited to celebrate their marriage. After the ceremony and portraits, we went to Pine Lake Country Club, which was just a short 5 minute drive away. A wonderful meal, dancing, and visiting with friends and family continued through the night. We even snuck out for a short time to go out on the beautiful golf course of Pine Lake Country Club for some golden hour sunset couple portraits! (See below.)
Throughout the day, through both talking with them and hearing the speeches from the groomsman and bridesmaid, I found out even more about Katelyn and Kyle and their stories. Katelyn is from Mint Hill, NC and Kyle is from Michigan. They shared with me that they originally met at a Bible study. It was evident that their faith was a big part of who they are as individuals, and as a couple together. They had been dating about a year and a half before getting married. The importance of faith and honoring God in their marriage and lives was a huge focus of their intimate ceremony at The Chapel at Morning Star.
From Kyle’s groomsman, a lifelong friend he had from the time they were young, he shared that Kyle had been in a snow boarding accident in the past and ended up in a coma. He had to work to relearn basic skills and things that many people take for granted. You could tell from the speech that Kyle was really an outstanding guy who his friends and family really loved and were so thankful he came through that challenge in his life to be where he is today.
From Katelyn’s bridesmaid, a friend she met in nursing school, she shared Katelyn is the type of person who asks how you are and really wants to know the answer. When she thinks something is cool, it’s Kool with a “K.” She wasn’t really sure she wanted to be a nurse at first, but made it through with the help of her friends.
After hearing these heartwarming speeches, I wanted to be friends with both of them too! Even though our time was short and we talked off and on during pictures, I could definitely tell they were my kind of people – genuine, fun, and caring!
I loved being a small part of their wedding day, and capturing their memories in photos. Enjoy even more special moments below from their amazing day!
