Kerri and Dylan were married on a beautiful Fall day at Sleepy Hollow in Clemson, SC. It was a joy to document their wedding day in photos and be their photographer!
This post has been a long time coming . . . it is usually my practice to get a blog post out from a wedding within a couple weeks of the wedding, however things got a little CRAZY in my own life end of last year/beginning of this year with starting a new job, building a house, and moving . . . and before I knew it, here we are!! LIFE HAPPENS even to us wedding photographers. 🙂 Knowing how crazy things were, I never promised this couple a blog post, but always had the intention of still doing one. (And of course their completed gallery was still finished and delivered on time!!) Hopefully this can be a nice little 9 month anniversary surprise for Kerri & Dylan!! 🙂
I first met Kerri and Dylan at their engagement session back in the Spring when they agreed to come to the Spartanburg area to do their session. We met at Glendale Shoals, one of my favorite places to take photos. They both said they were a little nervous for their session, but honestly you would never have known it. I thought they both did an awesome job taking my directions with posing and just getting to be themselves, so their relationship could shine through! I even gave Dylan some “advanced” poses to try, and he did great!!! I always love when I get the chance to do an engagement session, because it really helps me get to know my couple and how they interact and gives them a chance to get comfortable with me behind the camera and used to how I direct a session. It makes the wedding day go soooo much smoother too, having already met and interacted with one another.
Then I also had the privilege to take Kerri’s Bridal photos at Sleepy Hollow Barn. This was a great way for her to get to try out her dress, shoes, makeup, and hair too! And it gave me a chance to scope out the beautiful grounds around Sleepy Hollow, so I would have some great spots in mind for photos on their wedding day!
When the wedding day finally came, we were all so excited! I know I, for one, was especially excited that there wasn’t any rain in the forecast, as there had been a lot of it in our area over the past weeks leading up to the day. Instead, there was just a gorgeous, warm, but with a cool breeze, wonderful Fall October day! When I think of a perfect Fall day in the South, this is the type of day I would envision. When I arrived to Sleepy Hollow Barn, I found Kerri and her bridesmaids chilling out in the beautiful bridesmaid room, putting a few finishing touches on their makeup and hair. Everyone was pretty laid back and excited as I gathered her dress and her details for some photos at first.
After that, we moved quickly into the schedule of the day. There were so many memorable moments throughout the wedding day. Some of my favorite things from Kerri and Dylan’s wedding day were:
-How they each presented their parents with special gifts before the ceremony. This just goes to show how important family is to them!
-Kerri and her Dad’s first look. It was so sweet!
-Dylan writing Kerri a card before the ceremony and delivering it to her as a surprise. (Even though they had said they weren’t doing gifts for one another . . . he did one anyway!)
-Dylan seeing Kerri for the first time when she walked down the aisle and getting teary eyed. Who could blame him? She was such a beautiful bride!!
-The time we had for bride and groom portraits away from everyone else, just a time for the two of them to take in each other, and realize they were finally husband and wife! (And it didn’t hurt that Sleepy Hollow has some of the most gorgeous surroundings on their property for photos!!)
-Kerri and Dylan enjoying their reception with their family and friends. You could tell how special and important everyone who attended was to them.
Take a look at some of my favorite photos from their wedding day!
Congratulations again to Kerri and Dylan on your beautiful wedding day! Thank you so much for giving me the honor to capture your memories for you!!
